League Ahead delivers NRLW Media Skills Workshops
At League Ahead, we are committed to supporting players beyond the field and ensuring they are fully equipped for every aspect of their rugby league journey. In a new NRLW initiative formed with the support of Harvey Norman and the National Rugby League, League Ahead has been delivering Media Skills Workshops at NRLW clubs including: Parramatta Eels and New Zealand Warriors. The workshops are designed to equip players with the communication and media skills required of todayβs elite athletes, with NRLW players increasingly engaging across television, digital media, podcasts and social platforms throughout their careers.
During the workshop, players rotated through three stations led by experienced media professionals. The long-form media training sessions were hosted by Rebecca Cook and Monica Beazley, while Emma Lawrence from Nine Network and sports journalist and producer Ravinder Hunia led the short-form interview and media training. The final station focused on podcasting and was hosted by Marlee Silva from Nine Network. Reflecting on the workshop, Silva said:
βItβs wonderful to see this investment in supporting the players as whole human beings with special stories that they should feel the power to be able to tell.β

League Ahead would also like to acknowledge and thank Harvey Norman for their valued support of the program and their ongoing investment in initiatives that help empower and develop women in rugby league.
